More RV and tent sites and cabins are being installed right now, with the new pool expected to open in August
Families who stay at the park also receive one free pass each day to the North Carolina Zoo, the world’s largest zoo, which is literally right next door to the campground.
But later this summer, park owners Jane and Kent Emirbayer are creating an even bigger enticement by opening an 80,000-gallon, zero entry swimming pool with a 10-foot tall, 30-foot long waterslide.
“The pool will also have a very large waterfall that pours into it,” Kent Emirbayer said, adding that the pool will also be surrounded by lots of boulders and pine trees, which together will simulate a hidden mountain paradise.
“We are hoping to have it finished by August,” he said.
The Emirbayers are also busy expanding the campground to include 25 more campsites including tent sites with 50 amp electrical service as well as eight furnished cabins from Alabama Custom Cabins.
“We have been blessed with lots of business, so we need to expand,” Jane Emirbayer said, adding, “The whole week of Fourth of July is already almost sold out.”
Jellystone Parks are famous for their organized family activities and themed weekends with Yogi Bear, Boo Boo™ and Cindy Bear™, which help families create unique memories. Activities include arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, evening foam glow rides, face painting and air brush tattoos as well as plentiful interactions with the bears.
The park also offers themed weekends, including a Christmas in July weekend July 20-22 with snowball fights, a Christmas tree hunt, a campsite decorating contest and a Christmas party on Saturday night. A Chocolate Lovers’ Weekend is set for Aug. 3-5 with a chocolate Slip-N-Slide, chocolate bingo, cocoa games, and a chocolate dessert party with a chocolate dish contest. A Hawaiian Luau Weekend will take place Aug. 24-26 with a hula hoop and limbo contests, a luau and a nighttime waterslide.
