The free swimming lesson, hosted by the North Texas Jellystone Park, is one of 700 such events taking place around the world on the same day. The lesson is designed to teach children to swim to help prevent drowning.
Last year’s event drew 40,298 students at 641 facilities in 24 countries.
Registration is open to the first 400 children who sign up for the event. Each participant must be accompanied by an adult who joins them in the swimming pool.
The swimming lesson will take place next door to Jellystone Park at the Pirate’s Cove Water Park at 2461 S. Burleson Boulevard in Burleson.
The swim instructors will be provided by Aqua-Tots Swim School and Sigma Swim School, both of which are now part of a community drowning prevention coalition that includes Cooks Children’s Hospital, Burleson Fire Department, the City of Burleson and North Texas Jellystone Park.
Burleson Fire Department personnel will be onsite with drowning prevention materials and also providing CPR skills training beginning at 8:15 am.
