Halloween isn’t until the end of October.

But Jellystone Parks in Texas are giving children and their families multiple opportunities to dress up and go trick or treating inside the campground during the weekends leading up to Halloween.

“Our Halloween themed weekends are some of our most popular weekends of the year, so it behooves families to reserve their campsites and cabins several weeks in advance,” said Michele Wisher, vice president of marketing for Milford, Ohio-based Leisure Systems, Inc., which franchises Jellystone Parks across North America.

Following are details on the Halloween themed activities that will be offered this fall at Jellystone Parks across the Lone Star State

— Burleson: This park will have Halloween themed activities every weekend in October, including campsite decorating and costume contests. Haunted attractions include the “Kingdom of the Dead” haunted walking trail on Friday night and a Zombie Paintball Hunt on Saturday. Younger guests can also enjoy the Magic Pumpkin Patch, where they grow their own pumpkin, while guests of all ages can test their launching skills during the park’s “Hurl to the Pumpkin Challenge.” www.northtexasjellystone.com

— Canyon Lake: This park will have non-scary Halloween themed activities every weekend in October with non-scary costume and campsite decorating contests, a mini carnival, and pumpkin decorating. Spooky nighttime laser tag games are also planned for the last three weekends of October. www.jellystonehillcountry.com

— Fredericksburg: This park kicks off Halloween activities the weekend of September 29 with Pumpkin Patch Weekend and continues its festivities every weekend in October. Activities include planting magic pumpkin seeds, costume contests, pumpkin painting, site decorating contests, and trick-or-treating. — Kerrville: This park is planning non-scary Halloween themed activities the first three weekends in October, with the last weekend of October being a scary weekend. Non-scary weekend activities include non-scary costume and best decorated campsite contests; a pumpkin decorating contest; trick or treating; candy bar bingo and spooky crafts. — Tyler: This park will offer Halloween theme activities every weekend in October, including a magic pumpkin patch, a costume contest, “trunk or treat” and haunted woods. — Waller: This park is planning six consecutive Halloween themed weekends starting Sept. 22. Activities include costume and campsite decorating contests, trick or treating, and pumpkin decorating with pumpkins from the park’s Magic Pumpkin Patch. There will also be a pumpkin carving station, a haunted trail ride, a haunted house and a maze.
