“This is a nice win for us,” said Zachary Bossenbroek, CEO Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Northgate Resorts, which owns and operates eight other Jellystone Parks across the country, including the Canyon Lake park, which was recently named on TripAdvisor’s list of the top 25 hotels for families in the United States.
Northgate is highly regarded for the quality of its RV resorts. Its Jellystone Park in Canyon Lake features 79 RV sites, 34 tent sites and 61 rental cabins and cottages, including a Yogi Bear™ Bunkhouse, which can sleep up to 16, and a Boo Boo™ Bungalow, which can sleep up to 14.
The park offers a wide selection of cabins that can sleep up to 10, including loft units, as well as smaller cottages and cabins that can sleep up to four. Each unit has kitchen and bathroom facilities. Most of them also have an outdoor picnic table, charcoal grill and fire ring.

Additional park improvements are also underway this year, including construction of six new “Red Carpet RV Sites,” four new Hill Country Cabins and a new playground.
These improvements complement a variety of onsite amenities, including an interactive water playground, a swimming pool and splash pad, an indoor heated pool, lazer tag, disc golf, a jumping pillow, a gem mining sluice and a GaGa ball pit as well as basketball, volleyball and horseshoe courts.
Of course, Jellystone Parks are famous for their organized family activities and themed weekends with Yogi Bear and Boo Boo, which help families create unique memories. Activities include arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, face painting and other interactions with the bears.
Themed weekends are scheduled all year at Canyon Lake, with themed weeks during the summer months. Events range from family athletic competitions with various athletic competitions to Christmas in July with Christmas Carol Karaoke and other holiday themed activities to pre-Halloween themed weekends with costume and campsite decorating contests and trick or treating.
Upcoming events in Canyon Lake include a Death by Chocolate Week from June 25 – July 1 with a chocolate Slip N Slide, chocolate painting, an ice cream social, and all you can eat chocolate chip pancakes on Sunday morning. The park’s Christmas in July weekend will take place July 23 – 29 with a campsite decorating contest, holiday themed crafts and visits from Santa. A Pirates and Mermaids Week is set for July 30 – Aug. 5 with cannonball tosses and contests; peg leg races; a treasure hunt; and a prize for the best pirate and mermaid costumes.
