The campground, recent voted by the best campground in Texas by readers of TexasOutside.com, is adding three new waterslides, cabins and other improvements
“We are very pleased to receive this statewide recognition as we continue our efforts to build Jellystone Park Guadalupe into one of the top campgrounds in Texas,” said Zachary Bossenbroek, CEO Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Northgate Resorts, which acquired the Kerrville resort in late 2015 and converted it into a Jellystone Park in 2016.
A private company that owns and operates eight other Jellystone Parks across the country, Northgate is highly regarded for the quality of its RV resorts.
Located along the banks of the Guadalupe River, the park features 178 RV sites as well as 72 furnished cabins and cottages, including 13 new Boo Boo Bungalows and 10 new Hill Country Cottages.
Last year, Northgate also equipped the park with a 19,641 square- foot water zone. It includes three water slides that are 20-feet, 160-feet and 165-feet long; two kiddie water slides; two water cannons; 13 water blasters; and a 750-gallon hydro storm, an elevated water tank that periodically dumps its contents on anyone who happens to be underneath it.
Northgate is currently expanding the water zone with four new water slides, one of which is a racer with two lanes. The new slides, which will open this summer, will be 196-feet, 242-feet, and 334-feet-long.
Northgate is also renovating one of the park’s restaurants, the River Rock Pub & Pizzeria. The pub complements the 32-seat Cartoon Cafe, which features kid-friendly meals such as chicken tenders and hamburgers.
All of these improvements complement a growing array of onsite activities, including a gem mining sluice, miniature golf course, a gaga ball pit and laser tag, and an expanded activity schedule.
Jellystone Parks are famous for their organized family activities and themed weekends with Yogi Bear™ and Boo Boo™, which help families create unique memories. Activities include arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, face painting, a jumping pillow, and gem mining, as well as plentiful interactions with the bears.
Themed weekends are scheduled year round at Jellystone Park Guadalupe and range from family athletic competitions with various sporting events to Christmas in July with Christmas Carol Karaoke and other holiday themed activities to pre-Halloween themed weekends with costume and campsite decorating contests and trick or treating.
Upcoming events include a Chocolate Frenzy Week from June 4 – 10 with a chocolate Slip N Slide; chocolate painting; an ice cream social; and all you can eat chocolate chip pancakes. A Pirates and Mermaids Weekend is set for Aug. 6 – 12 with cannonball tosses and contests; peg leg races; a treasure hunt; and prizes for the best pirate and mermaid costumes. A “So You Think Yogi Bear Can Dance Weekend” is planned for Sept. 21 – 23 with opportunities for guests to try Hip Hop, Salsa, ballet, swing and tap. There will also be dance competitions.
