MILFORD, Ohio, May 23, 2016 — Year-to-date revenues and occupancies are up by an average of 21.1 percent at Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts across the Eastern Seaboard, according to the company that franchises the family friendly camping resorts. Advance reservations for Memorial Day and July 4th weekends are also running well ahead of last year’s figures. “2016 is shaping up to be one of our best years ever,” said Jim Westover, vice president of operations for Leisure Systems, Inc., the Milford, Ohio-based company that franchises 82 Jellystone Park campgrounds across the U.S. and Canada. Indeed, business is up in every Eastern state where there are Jellystone Parks, with New York State leading the pack with a 75.5 percent increase in year-to-day revenues and occupancies. “All five of our New York parks up are up double digits,” Westover said, adding that the Jellystone Park in Gardiner is showing the strongest gains. Other New York Jellystone Parks are located in Cooperstown, Mexico, North Hudson and Java. The former Babcock Hollow Campground in Bath joined the Jellystone Park network this year as the Finger Lakes Jellystone Park. The Jellystone Parks in Madison, Fla. is also seeing significant growth, with year-to-date revenues and occupancies up 46.2 percent, while business levels at Jellystone Parks in Cherokee, Marion and Tabor City, N.C. are up 32.2 percent. Elsewhere along the Eastern Seaboard, Jellystone Parks reported year-to-date occupancies and revenue gains of 14.4 percent in South Carolina; 11.8 percent in Pennsylvania; 10 percent in Virginia; and 9.9 percent in New Jersey. Elsewhere in the U.S., most Jellystone Parks are also reporting advance reservations running well ahead of last year’s figures. “We sold out quicker than normal for Memorial Day,” said Larry Ladd, general manager of the Jellystone Park in Pierceton, Ind. “Fourth of July is also sold out. While we haven’t been open very long, the weekends have been very busy. Cabin reservations are very brisk.” The Jellystone Park in Bloomington, Ind. is also nearly sold out for Memorial Day weekend. “We have one cabin left for Memorial Day. July 4th RV sites are also already completely booked, and there are several weekends in June and July that our cabins are completely booked,” said park manager Rachael Stine. The Jellystone Park in Lawrence, Kan. is also nearly sold out for Memorial Day weekend. “It’s looking packed with only three RV sites left and all cabins full,” said general manager Shawn Blackwell. Meanwhile, only a handful of campsites were still available for Memorial Day weekend at the Jellystone Park in Madison, Me. “We are sold out of camper sites and we have a few tent sites open,” said Libby Foss, who co-owns and operates the Madison campground with her husband, Jeff. “The reservations for summer are looking very good.” The Jellystone Park in Sturbridge, Mass., for its part, has a few open sites for Memorial Day weekend, but it, too, is seeing an increase in business. “Seasonal campers seem to be on the rise. Rentals are also doing very well,” said James Leaming, the park’s general manager, adding, “Future reservations are up from last year about 7 percent. We are looking forward to a good year.” All of these gains are significant, Westover said, because Jellystone Parks across the U.S. and Canada posted a 12.8 increase in same park revenues in 2015 compared to the previous year. I love the support from the franchise. I would tell any prospect looking at converting or building a Jellystone Park, that it’s the single best business decision you can make.

The Jellystone Park brand has made a huge difference in our business. If we had 50 more sites and more cabins, they’d be filled every weekend.

We’re going to be entering our 13th season, and I sure would hate to own a property without being Yogi branded. I don’t think we’ve ever had a down year. We just continue to grow. The reason we really like Jellystone Parks is because of the support behind us. With other parks in the system, we have 75+ sources of question-and-answer type people to go to. The suppo… Read more
