The Frankenmuth campground was one of five Jellystone Parks that won The Carroll Award from Leisure Systems, Inc., the Milford, Ohio-based company that franchises 80 Jellystone Parks across the U.S. and Canada.
Four other Jellystone Parks in Bremen, Ga.; Mill Run, Penn.; Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Tabor City, N.C. also received the award after tying each other’s scores for the highest franchise assessment ratings.
“It is a real honor for us to receive this recognition,” said Cindy Keinath, a second generation co-owner of the Jellystone Park who works at the 250-site park with her husband, Allen; her brother, Craig, and her parents, Erv and Marilyn Banes.
Keinath said her family has been making significant campground improvements during the past two years. A new swimming pool and upgrades to the park’s mini golf course were completed by late 2016, but 2017 was the first year the new amenities were available throughout the camping season.
Keinath said the improvements have paid off with the park experiencing a 10 percent increase in business in 2017 compared to the previous year.
“Our business outlook is great,” she said, adding that her family plans to focus on retiling the park’s restrooms and other cosmetic improvements in preparation for the 2018 camping season. “We have a lot of small projects going on right now,” she said.
Jellystone Parks are famous for organized activities and themed weekends with Yogi Bear™, which will begin the weekend after Easter and continue through October.
And because the park is within the Frankenmuth city limits, it’s often used as a base camp by guests who come to participate in festivals and other special events.
Big events include the World Expo of Beer, May 18-19; The Dog Bowl, a high energy event May 26-27 that features dogs running, jumping and diving; the Bavarian Festival, June 7-10; and, of course, Oktoberfest, which is scheduled for Sept. 20-23.
The Frankenmuth Jellystone Park typically organizes craft activities that tie in with the events in town.
Onsite amenities at the Frankenmuth Jellystone include a swimming pool and hot tub; a miniature golf course; a camp store and snack bar, all of which complement the park’s campsites and cabin rentals. For more information, please visit www.frankenmuthjellystone.com.
