“We feel it’s important to honor the true heroes of our community,” said park owner Brent Gasser, whose campground won the “Facility of the Year” and Landscape of the Year” awards from Leisure Systems, Inc., the Milford, Ohio-based company that franchises Jellystone Parks across North America.
Memorial Day weekend activities start with a flag salute with Yogi Bear™, which is followed by a parade in which campers are invited to decorate their bicycles, skateboards and scooters in patriotic colors.
Other activities include red, white and blue t-shirt coloring, games of capture the flag, as well as messy games of “shaving cream waffle ball,” “slime kickball” and the “messy egg toss.”
“We like to have fun,” Gasser said, adding that his park has 25 water features, which is apropos considering that the Wisconsin Dells is the “Waterpark Capital of the World.”
“We provide the perfect environment for families with children in the 4 to 12 age group,” Gasser said. “Most of our guests never leave the park.”
Jellystone Parks are famous for their organized family activities and themed weekends with Yogi Bear, Boo Boo™ and Cindy Bear™, which help families create unique memories. Activities include arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, evening foam glow rides, face painting and air brush tattoos as well as plentiful interactions with the bears.
Yvette Villamil and her family from Illinois have been coming to the Dells Jellystone every summer for the past 35 years. “When we started it was just my dad and my sister and me,” she said. “Now there are more than 50 of us that go each year.”
Villamil and her family like to go to Jellystone on the first weekend of August, when the park has a luau theme with coconut beach bowling, Hawaiian dancers and an evening luau with dancing. She said her family has so much fun at the park that even the older teenagers want to come back every year and enjoy the park with their family.
Gasser said he and his staff take great pride in creating a park setting and activities that are welcoming to families. The Dells Jellystone has been owned and operated by the Gasser family for 48 years.
Gasser added that he and his staff have created 12 new weekend activity themes this year, some of which involve the park’s new foam machine. To see a complete activity schedule as well as information on RV and tent sites and rental cabins, please visit www.dellsjellystone.com
