The large number of Jellystone Park nominees coincides with the strongest growth and highest annual sales figures in the 50-year history of the Yogi Bear-themed franchise network
This year, there are 16 campgrounds across the nation vying for the Park of the Year honor in the medium-size park category and of those, nine nominees are Jellystone Park locations. The Jellystone Park contenders are located in Canyon Lake, Texas; Gloucester Point, Va.; Harrisville, Penn.; Horn Lake, Miss., which serves the Memphis, Tenn. market; Kerrville, Texas; Luray, Va.; Quarryville, Penn.; Tyler, Texas; and Wichita Falls, Texas.
In the Park of the Year award category for large parks, four of the 12 total nominees are Jellystone Park locations: Gardiner, N.Y.; Lodi, Calif.; Mammoth Cave, Ky.; and Williamsport, Md.
The Jellystone Park location in Harrisville, Penn. is also one of this year’s three nominees competing for ARVC’s Plan-It-Green Award, which recognizes parks with exemplary business practices that protect the environment.
Award winners will be announced during ARVC’s Outdoor Hospitality Conference & Expo, which takes place Nov. 4-7 in Knoxville, Tenn.
“It is great to see so many Jellystone Park locations competing for so many prestigious awards at the national level at a time when we are also experiencing the strongest sales in the 50-year history of the Jellystone Park franchise network,” said Trent Hershenson, vice president of marketing for Leisure Systems, Inc., which franchises more than 75 Yogi Bear-themed campgrounds across the U.S. and Canada.
The Jellystone Park franchise network is on track to achieve its 11th straight year of record sales with existing locations up 12% year-over-year during the first six months of this year. LSI will report its year-to-date sales figures during its annual Symposium event, Nov. 10 to 14, in Charleston, S.C.
This year LSI’s Symposium includes a Prospective Owners Workshop Nov. 10, which gives prospective Jellystone Park owners ample opportunities to network with existing franchisees so they can learn why Jellystone Park locations are among the most sought after and most profitable parks in the family campground business.
LSI will also host its own annual awards program on the evening of Monday, Nov. 11, so that park owners and operators can spend the week interacting with the award winners and asking them questions about the things they do to make their parks successful.
