MILTON, Penn., Jan. 31, 2017 — The Jellystone Park at Shangri-La has won an award for achieving the highest inspection rating of all 80 Jellystone Parks across the U.S. and Canada in 2016.

The Milton park received The Franchise Inspection Leader Award, known as “The Carroll Award,” from Leisure Systems, Inc., the Milton, Ohio-based company that franchises Jellystone Parks across North America.

“We were very pleased to receive the award,” said Becky Miller, who works with her husband, Bob, to manage the 162-site park, which also has 20 rental cabins.

Miller said the park, which is owned by Legacy RV Resorts, has been making a lot of improvements to its facilities and activity programs in recent years.

Last year’s improvements included installation of a new water game in the kiddie pool, new umbrellas for shade in the pool area, as well as new landscaping. This year, the park is focusing on painting and trim work to give its cabins and other buildings a fresh and updated look.

The improvements are translating into increased business levels for the park as more and more families from Pennsylvania as well as New York, Maryland and New Jersey come to experience everything Jellystone Park has to offer.

Jellystone Parks are famous for providing fun, family activities and themed weekends that include everything from crafts and games to wagon
rides. Birthday parties with the bears and daily appearances by Yogi Bear are also very popular.

Themed weekend activities, such as Luau weekends, often include limbo contests and sand castle building. Mardi Gras themed weekends include parades, cookouts and dances, while Christmas in July weekends include campsite decorating contests, campsite caroling, cookie and ornament making activities. The increasingly popular Halloween themed weekends include costume and campsite decorating contests and trick or treating activities.

The Jellystone Park at Shangri-La also has many onsite amenities, including basketball and volleyball courts; horseshoe and GaGa ball pits; catch and release fishing ponds; as well as hiking and nature trails.
